PDF
Adobe PDF(Portable Document Format) bypasses problems commonly encountered in electronic file sharing. A correctly made PDF file will print just as well as a native file with less chance for errors.

• If you are already using Adobe Distiller to create your files we suggest you download PDI's applicable settings file (.zip files) for your version on our "Software Downloads" page. For distiller 4.0 and 5.0 you need to place the file in the "Settings" folder in your "Distiller" folder. For 6.0, you'll place it in the "Settings" folder in the "Adobe PDF 6.0" folder.

• PDI can usually use Adobe Acrobat's "Press Optimized" settings found in Distiller. Be sure to always have your fonts open and to embed all fonts. "When Embedding Fails" should be set to "Cancel Job" so a file does not get created. Color managed or embeded profiles are discouraged. If you have any questions, please call Tish Gance at 303-463-5220.

Docucolor Tips
As you prepare your files for digital output, there are some important guidelines to follow (and limitations to be aware of) to ensure high quality results:
• If your document bleeds off an edge, create it at the trim size and extend your image at least 1/8" past the page boundary.
• The DocuColor is not an offset printing press. It is a toner-based digital color-printing device. It is the most advanced machine of its type and produces excellent color for most applications, but it may not always match conventional offset printing.
• Certain paper stocks work much better than other stocks. Please ask your sales representative for recommendations.
• The DocuColor can print double-sided on uncoated and coated paper. However, as part of the printing process, the DocuColor applies a coating to the entire surface area of every sheet that goes through it. So even uncoated sheets usually look smoother and shinier.
• Photographs, solid tints, and fine text reproduce with excellent results on the DocuColor. However, we recommend that you minimize your use of graduated screens and extremely large areas of unbroken color.
• Avoid printing over fold lines. Toner is prone to cracking when folded.
